In June, Ben marked the beginning of the end of a long journey for Suffolk New Academy. Chantry High School was built over fifty years ago but was in poor shape and unsuitable for a growing school. Local people had been promised much over the years.
Ben stepped in to ensure success where others had failed. After years of lobbying, the education secretary and chancellor gave Ben and Suffolk New Academy the green light and building work began with a turf-cutting at the beginning of June. The new building, designed by world-leading architects, will be a sturdy, handsome brick building to produce a school that will stand the test of time and Ben is immensely proud to have helped bring it to our town.
